What is a cookie?
Cookies are used today by virtually all websites, and in many cases, cookies can be necessary in order to deliver a service on the website.
A cookie is a small text file that is saved on the user’s IT equipment (PC, tablet, smartphone) so that the equipment can be recognised. Among other things, cookies can be used to draw up statistics about the users’ use of the website and to optimise its content. A cookie is a passive file and cannot therefore gather information from the user’s computer, spread a computer virus or other harmful programs. Some cookies are placed by other parties (third parties) than those that are listed in the address line (URL) on the browser. This can be general content, but also for example analytical tools or embedded comments fields. This means that cookies are saved from parties other than the owner of the website.
Some cookies are only saved on your IT equipment for as long as you have your browser open (session cookies). Other cookies are saved for a longer period of time (persistent cookies). When you revisit a website, the cookie is typically renewed.
How do you remove/avoid cookies?
How you delete or avoid cookies being placed on your IT equipment depends on your browser.
If you use a PC, you can delete cookies by using the shortcut keys [CTRL]+[SHIFT]+[Delete].
Why do we inform you about cookies?
All Danish websites are obliged to inform their users about which cookies they place on the users’ IT equipment. This information must be in accordance with the “Executive Order on Information and Consent Required in Case of Storing and Accessing Information in End-User Terminal Equipment” (“Cookie Order”).
