Promoting a sustainable garment and textile production
We wish to promote cooperation and dialogue on the sustainability agenda throughout our supply chain. Our Code of Conduct, which is based on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs), sets forth the sustainability minimum standards that we expect our business partners to cooperate on achieving in the long term. You can find our Code of Conduct here.
Our responsible supply chain management has until now primarily focused on working with the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI). The BSCI Platform enables us to uphold a continuous dialogue with the respective supplier and use our leverage to promote a sustainable production where everybody involved in our production is treated with respect and dignity.
As of 2016 PWT Group is starting to implement the UNGPs in our own operations as well as throughout our supply chain. This process requires both time and resources, and we focus on our suppliers’ ability and willingness to demonstrate continuous improvements – and we feel confident that cooperation and dialogue will result in a more efficient partnership, from which both parties will benefit.
PWT Group is an active member of the Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh (the Accord). Through the initiative PWT Group is committed to maintaining our sourcing volume in Bangladesh, enrolling all factories in the country with whom we do business in the Accord Inspection Programme, help securing remediation, and supporting worker participation and training programmes on the factories.
PWT Group works together with the suppliers to ensure that all our products are compliant with the REACH obligations and that no harmful substances are exposed to the consumers and the workers handling the products throughout the supply chain.
PWT Group ensure that no animals suffer any harm during production of our products. Please see our Animal Welfare Policy that all our suppliers accept and sign.
Development through stakeholder engagement
We acknowledge that the global garment and textile industry faces some major key issues regarding, among others, workers’ human rights, environmental adverse impacts, and corruption. We believe that by engaging in a range of stakeholder initiatives we have a better opportunity of contributing to solutions to these global challenges. PWT Group is a member of the UN Global Compact, The Foreign Trade Association as well as the Danish Trading Initiative (DIEH) and Danish Fashion and Textile (DM&T).
